Toromont Process Systems, Calgary, Alberta, has received a $20 million order -- the largest in the company's history -- to supply three refrigeration systems to chill natural gas, allowing the removal of propane, butane and other heavy hydrocarbons at a large gas processing complex in North Africa.
Toromont is responsible for the engineering design, manufacture and commissioning of the systems, scheduled for delivery in late 2003 or early 2004. Each module will include three of the largest rotary screw compressors manufactured, requiring a total of 27,000 hp. The customer is a multinational engineering contractor constructing the plant on behalf of a major European oil company. Engineering and fabrication of the project will be completed at Toromont's new 150,000 ft2 facility in Calgary.
