MODINE MANUFACTURING CO., Racine, Wis., acquired THERMOCORE INTERNATIONAL INC., Lancaster, Pa., in a pooling-of-interests transaction originally announced on Dec. 14, 2000. The total transaction is valued at $110 million. Modine also is assuming about $19 million in Thermocore liabilities, net of cash. Thermocore provides advanced thermal solutions for the electronics industry. In related news, Thermocore has expanded its Mexican production capacity with the opening of its new facility in Guaymas, Sonora, Mexico. The new plant currently has 77,000 ft2 of production space and can be expanded another 77,000 ft2 as future demands dictate. The company's former plant was located in Empalme, Sonora.

OMRON ELECTRONICS LLC, Schaumburg, Ill., created a new division to address the needs of end-user customers: the Technical Automation Solutions (TAS) division, led by division manager Jim Mooney. Working closely with this new division will be the existing Industrial Automation Division, managed by vice president Rob Loomis. The division is responsible for the continued sales and marketing of all control products.

MOTION INDUSTRIES, Sarasota, Fla., was recognized as Supplier of the Year by TROPICANA PRODUCTS INC., Bradenton, Fla. The award was presented by Tropicana's MRO Global Purchasing Department at an annual roundtable meeting. The award was in the category of more than $1 million in sales, and selection criteria for the award included documented cost savings, minimum 99 percent shipping performance, maximum production support and value-added services.

REGLOPLAS CORP.'s, Farmington Hills, Mich., appointed MULLINS PRECISION SYSTEMS INC., Fairfield, Ohio, and CST SALES, New Braunfels, Texas, to represent Regloplas products. Regloplas manufactures temperature control units used in conjunction with other in-process equipment primarily for the production of plastic, die cast and rubber products.
