An alternative to argon triple-point and other cryogenic calibrators, Cryo-Cal-1 utilizes the phase change point of liquid nitrogen to establish a reference temperature of approximately -321°F (-196°C [77K]). Four Teflon-lined bushings guide sensors into the gold-plated equalization block that is completely immersed in the cryogenic liquid contained within a super-insulated vacuum dewar. The gold-plated equalization block reduces corrosion and oxidation and contributes to 0.002K stability and uniformity.
