An online course focusing on engineering safety-relief systems will allow industrial refrigeration professionals to learn about vent systems for ammonia refrigeration systems without leaving the office. The Madison, Wis.-based Industrial Refrigeration Consortium (IRC) will host the web course on May 7-11; the online class will meet daily between between 8 a.m. and 10 a.m. Central time.

Participation in the course will help end users, equipment manufacturers, design engineers and contractors understand principles and practices of engineering safety-relief systems. Covered topics include:
  • Codes and standards related to safety-relief systems.
  • Key aspects of engineering code-compliant relief systems.
  • Capacity determination for non-standard equipment such as heat exchangers.
  • Methods for proper sizing of relief vent piping, including headered vent systems.
More information on the course is available online or call (866) 635-4721.
