Clearwater Systems Corp., Essex, Conn., is providing engineered water systems for large-scale recirculating cooling tower applications in the power generation and chemical process industries. The new systems are based on nonchemical, pulsed energy technology developed at the University of Connecticut.
The systems will meet the needs for large-scale custom designed processes required by power plants, cogeneration facilities, chemical and petrochemical processes, ethanol production and central utilities. Pulsed energy technology prevents scale, controls total bacteriological activity and prevents corrosion without chemical addition. Process implementation may significantly reduce water consumption and disposal costs and some applications may allow blowdown reuse.
