Andritz Hydro, Graz, Austria, has received a nearly $64 million order from Limak Energy to supply all of the electromechanical equipment for the Alkumru hydropower plant in Turkey.
The Southeast Anatolia plant will have three vertical Francis turbines, each with 88.5 MW output. Alkumru is slated for commercial operation in early 2011, supplying more than 900 GW/hr of electrical power. The plant's owner, Limak Group, is focusing on renewable energy from hydropower in the course of ongoing privatization in the Turkish energy sector.
