Integrating simulation software from Honeywell with an advanced engineering tool from Heat Transfer Research Inc. (HTRI) is expected to help industrial manufacturers more easily design heat exchanger equipment in their plants.
Honeywell's UniSim Design software will work with HTRI Xchanger Suite software to allow plants using the package to improve the level of detail reflected in their heat exchanger designs and projected performance in simulated plant models. It is expected to help engineers optimize overall process design and operation strategies through the assessment of prediction models that indicate how the heat exchangers will function and affect the overall plant.
Phoenix-based Honeywell's simulation software is used by plant and process engineers to create and improve manufacturing processes. Once created, the heat exchanger design and simulation models can be used to evaluate process modifications and help improve overall plant safety, reliability and efficiency.
The engineering tool from HTRI, College Station, Texas, includes nine software components for designing, rating and simulating heat exchangers. As part of the agreement, Honeywell will supply its UniSim heat exchanger technology to augment HTRI’s high-fidelity heat exchanger design capabilities.
