Polar Technology, known as the “Refrigerant Authority,” has purchased Missouri-based Refrigerant Services Inc. (RSI), a company that provides recovery services for large industrial refrigeration accounts such as chemical plants and process cooling facilities.
Nashville, Tenn.-based Polar Technology sees the acquisition as a strategic complement to its existing strengths as a refrigerant sales and reclamation and recycling company. According to the company, Polar has the largest refrigerant recovery cylinder exchange program. Polar also markets virgin and recertified refrigerants and offers refrigerant and oil-analysis programs, recovery and rental services, and oil and solvent reclamation services.
“Polar made this investment as we strive to grow our business and enter the field of direct refrigerant recovery support,” said Ted Atwood, president and founder of Polar Technology. “We feel that this purchase will not only broaden our customer base and focus our resources but will further allow us to broaden our environmental stewardship programs, of which we are extremely proud.”
Refrigerant Services had focused its business on large industrial refrigeration accounts, and it has developed an exclusive position in this area due to the challenges and technical expertise required to perform such work, according to the two companies.
The specialized technology will be transferred to Polar Technology’s new facility in California, from which Polar Technology will support the Refrigerant Services customers. RSI’s Shannon Arthur will remain involved as the account manager for Refrigerant Services clients.
