Test for Residual Oil Contamination
March 8, 2010
Surficial sampling and analysis is used to assess the extent of oil contamination on surfaces. Applications include testing wipe samples for residual oils coated on aluminum, steel metal parts such as ducts, fans and coils after the manufacturing process. A sample is collected by wiping a surface with a gauze pad then extracting the pad in solvent. The sample extract then is measured on a UVF analyzer such as Turner's TD500 calibrated to the oil of interest.
