Offered in 304 and 316 stainless steel, Thompson strainers have a large conical screen element and can be provided with a number of screen mesh options ranging from large perforated hole-openings down to approximately 50 µm. As water enters the bottom of the strainer housing and flows upward, heavier debris and particulate accelerate downward (away from the conical screen) into the large debris reservoir at the strainer base. The particulate is flushed from the reservoir via the debris flush port. Due to the large amount of screen surface area, the strainers operate with a minimal pressure drop of less than 1 psi when clean.
