Ground-breaking ceremonies in Vantaa, Finland, signal Metso Corp.’s investment in special valves production. The Helsinki-based manufacturer’s plant will employ 800 people, many of whom already work at a nearby Metso valve facility, to make industrial valves for the power generation and automation industries. The valves are intended for demanding applications such as oil and gas, and power generation.
“The new facility will enable us to bring more efficiency to the production process for these technologically advanced industrial products and will improve the prerequisites for further developing quality and delivery capability,” says Pasi Laine, president of energy and environmental technology. The plant is scheduled to open in early 2011.
