Compressor manufacturer Tecumseh Products Co. plans to create the Tecumseh Technology Center within a newly constructed 48,000 ft2 building near its Ann Arbor, Mich., headquarters. Slated for completion in summer 2011, the facility will join certified Tecumseh labs in France, Brazil and India to form the basis of a global engineering strategy with increased focus on research, development and applications, according to the company.

Much of the current lab in Tecumseh, Mich., will relocate to the Ann Arbor facility where its capabilities will be upgraded.

The facility will have hydrocarbon development and testing capability as well as environmental simulation facilities. In addition to striving for energy efficiency in product development, Tecumseh will pursue LEED certification and Energy Star accreditation for the facility.
