Intended for large chilled water plants, Model YK-EP includes a mechanical-compression economizer cycle that provides increased capacity and improved efficiency. It also provides energy savings at off-design conditions, where 99 percent of chiller operating hours are spent, due to the chiller’s ability to utilize entering condenser water temperatures (ECWT) as low as 55°F (13°C). Lower ECWT reduces instantaneous energy consumption as much as 50 percent compared to chillers with a minimum ECWT of 75°F (24°C), says the manufacturer.
