The Masterflux DC compressor was designed specifically for battery cooling in India's telecommunications industry.

A line of direct-current compressors from Tecumseh Products Co., Ann Arbor, Mich., has been developed for the India market and will be manufactured there.

Designed specifically for battery cooling applications within the region’s growing telecommunications market, the Masterflux units have a Tecumseh THK reciprocating compressor fitted with a brushless motor and a controller for converting DC power to three-phase power. The product will have both fixed- and variable-speed capability.

The advent of 3G technology into India’s expanding telecommunications industry creates a need for robust cooling to help extend battery life within remote shelter installations. The Masterflux compressors are well-suited for the T3 ambient temperature range that can reach 131°F (55°C).

The first product introduced will be 48 V and provide 500 W of cooling capacity. Additional models are being developed for both 12 and 24 V applications to address additional market segments, according to Tecumseh.
