A maker of products that cool electronic enclosures and heat-producing equipment, has converted its parking lot into a solar power generator, turning it into a veritable environmental “Green Lantern.”

Kooltronic Inc., Pennington, N.J., installed a canopy of approximately 1,300 solar panels over the parking lot, generating 30 percent of the company’s energy requirements. Kooltronic already had a rooftop solar power installation and wildlife habitat in addition to using ozone-friendly refrigerants and a stringent recycling program.

“In conjunction with the rooftop installation of 2,600 solar panels, which produces approximately 60 percent of our energy requirements on any given day, Kooltronic’s facility now will receive 90 percent of its electricity through solar power energy,” says Barry Freedman, president. Solar power requires no fuel and produces no waste or pollution.
