Efficient heat removal is one of the top challenges facing manufacturing industries and power generation. As existing cooling technologies reaching their limits, more efficient cooling technologies are needed to support technological development and reduce environmental impact.
The $10.3 million NanoHex project, funded by a dozen European companies, hopes to develop an analytical model that can accurately predict the thermal performance of nanofluid coolants. Nanofluids have shown enhanced thermal properties compared to traditional cooling fluids. NanoHex’s goal is the production of a cooling nanofluid that can be safely manufactured, applied and recycled.
If successfully developed, the fluid would be applied in demonstrative cooling systems for power electronic components and data centers. For more information, go to www.nanohex.eu.
