At present, there are no federal standards or test procedures for industrial or commercial fans and blowers. The Department of Energy (DOE) is considering establishing energy conservation standards for industrial and commercial fans and blowers. DOE will hold a public meeting on February 21 and will accept public comment on the proposed action until May 2.

According to DOE, industrial and commercial fans and blowers meet the definition of covered equipment under the Energy Policy and Conservation Act of 1975 (76 FR 37628, June 28, 2011). It is under this act that DOE is exploring the federal energy standards.

The public meeting will be held on February 21, 2013, at 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the U.S. Department of Energy, Forrestal Building, Room 8E-089, 1000 Independence Ave. SW., Washington, DC 20585. Parties interested in attending in person should notify Ms. Brenda Edwards at (202) 586-2945 or via email at brenda.edwards@ee.doe.gov. Those interested in attending in person also should consult the public participation section of the DOE meeting notice.

The meeting will be broadcast as a webinar. To reserve a webinar seat, visit https://www1.gotomeeting.com/register/905931568.
