Triton, Oxford Instruments’ cryofree dilution refrigerator system is an important component in a quantum computer to be supplied by D-Wave Systems Inc. to a new Quantum artificial intelligence laboratory. D-Wave’s 512-qubit quantum computer will be used to advance machine learning, which is helping to solve some of the most challenging computer science problems.

The Triton system provides the low-temperature environment essential to the performance of the quantum annealing processor. It enables the required processing temperatures of close to absolute zero to be obtained without the use of liquefied gases required by traditional systems.

The Quantum Artificial Intelligence Lab is the result of collaboration between NASA, Google and the Universities Space Research Association to computer science development.
