Because AODD pumps are operated by compressed air, not electricity, finding ways to optimize the rate of air consumption has always been a front-of-mind consideration for AODD pump manufacturers.
Recent advancements in the design and operation of the air distribution system (ADS) have reduced the air consumption considerably. ADS technology restricts the airflow into the air chamber near the end of each pump stroke so that only enough air is introduced to keep the pumping process going. This mode of operation eliminates the need for the operator to manually adjust the pump for efficiency because the ADS automatically does it.
This design creates a new efficiency point in AODD pump operation, highlighted by improved energy use with no corresponding loss of flow rate. Additional benefits of the advanced ADS include:
- Reduced total cost of ownership.
- Faster setup time.
- Ease of maintenance.
- Drop-in configuration capability.
- Ability to be retrofitted into existing AODD pumps.
- Ability to be used in harsh operating environments.
- No electricity required.
- Completely submersible design.
- Environmental sensitivity.
