Closed-Circuit Ammonia Refrigeration Systems Focus of New IIAR Standards
The International Institute of Ammonia Refrigeration (IIAR), Alexandria, Va., has released two standards pertaining to closed-circuit ammonia refrigeration systems.
ANSI/IIAR 5-2013 specifies criteria and procedures for the startup and commissioning of closed-circuit ammonia mechanical refrigerating systems. Basic minimum requirements for startup and commissioning are outlined as are additions and modifications made to such systems.
ANSI/IIAR 7-2013 defines the minimum requirements for developing operating procedures for closed-circuit ammonia mechanical refrigerating systems. The operating procedures were developed to be easy to understand, safe, effective and reliable and to meet applicable regulatory requirements. The standard is created for engineers who develop, define or review operating procedures for ammonia refrigeration systems.
IIAR standards are free for IIAR members to view digitally. For more information and to purchase a hard copy, visit www.iiar.org.
