ThermoTEC is intended for Class I, Division 2 hazardous locations. All three models (400, 800 and 1,500 BTU) are rated NEMA 4X for mounting to electronic enclosures or in transit cases, and they can be used indoors and outdoors. The thermoelectric air conditioners can be used in wash-down applications and environments such as petroleum refineries, offshore drilling rigs and utility gas plants.

The upgraded NEMA rating provides protection against corrosion and water ingress, including water coming from ice formation on the enclosure exterior. The thermoelectric cooling units, which are available in either 120 VAC or 240 VAC modes and operate in temperatures up to 140°F (60°C), may be mounted vertically or horizontally.
