Long-time sister companies, Newport Electronics Inc., Santa Ana, Calif., has merged with Omega Engineering Inc., Stamford, Conn. Going forward, Newport will do business under the Omega name. The merger was effective as of January 1, 2014, but it was not announced by the two brands until April.
Newport will continue to serve its customers from its West Coast location and provide technical support and products such as signal conditioners, transmitters and controllers. Although the www.newportus.com website will remain as a resource for manuals, specifications and mechanical information, the shop online feature has been closed. Online customers can place orders via www.omega.com.
In 2011, Omega Engineering Inc. was acquired by Spectris plc, Egham, Surrey, England, and offers more than 100,000 products for measurement of temperature, pressure, flow, level, strain, humidity, pH and conductivity as well as data acquisition, electric heating and custom engineered products.
