Spig, Arona, Italy, has been contracted to provide seawater cooling towers for the Nghi Son refinery south of Hanoi, Vietnam.
Spig will design and supply two cooling towers for the 200,000-barrel-a-day refinery. The towers will be manufactured with fiber-reinforced polyester corrosion-free material suitable for harsh environments and will feature duplex hardware and back-to-back arrangement. Each tower will process 66,550 m³/hr of seawater for a total 133,100 m³/hr.
According to Spig, the job is the largest seawater cooling towers project for this type of use. The refinery will supply the Vietnamese domestic market.
