York, Pa.-based Alcoil received U.S. Patent No. 8,662,149 for technology used as an air-to-refrigerant heat exchanger to cool air or reject heat in industrial systems. Designed to improve energy efficiency in refrigeration and air-conditioning equipment, the patented technology includes a built-in mini-receiver and vertical tubes. It reportedly provides lower pressure drops when used as a condenser or evaporator.
All refrigeration and air-conditioning systems must have two heat exchangers as part of the general operation. Alcoil's microchannel technology provides an improvement over traditional systems, says Steve Wand, Alcoil president and CEO.
Alcoil’s patent is also pending in China and other countries.
