WEFTEC, the Water Environment Federation’s annual technical exhibition and conference, offers water quality professionals water quality education and training as well as access to the reportedly the world's largest annual water quality exhibition. Water and wastewater professionals attend WEFTEC to learn, network, find out about new products and services, and earn continuing education credit and PDH hours. Technical sessions and workshops address topics include collection systems; resource recovery; plant operations, treatment and management; regulations and research; and water reuse and recycling. WEFTEC 2014 will take place from September 27-October 1 at the New Orleans Morial Convention Center in New Orleans.
Opening general session speaker Luke Williams will kick off the meeting with his keynote address on “Embracing Change in a Disruptive Age.” Scheduled for Monday, September 29, the presentation will look at disruptive innovation, entrepreneurship and cultural change, and how attendees can put those concepts to work in their environment. The technical program includes presentations by more than 900 speakers. The program is put together by more than 230 topical experts in the program committee. Sessions are made up of presentations by individuals or panels, and all sessions have opportunities for questions and discussions. To use the app, visit Apple App Store or Android Market on your mobile device and search for WEFTEC 2014. Among the technical highlights are “Back to Basics: Wastewater Treatment Fundamentals for Petroleum Refineries and Petrochemical Plants,” “Water in the Textile Industry: Market Dynamics, Case Studies, and Technology Innovation Opportunities," “Industrial Brine Concentration Using Forward Osmosis,” “Industrial Wastewater Reuse Reduces Costs and Provides Sustainable Operating Approach,” “Design and Troubleshooting of High Strength Industrial Wastewater Treatment Systems,” “Case Study of a Full-Scale Industrial Wastewater Treatment System for a Major Beverage Producer in Florida,” and “Unique Challenges and Solutions in Solving Regulatory and Operational Issues Through Industrial Wastewater Treatment Plant Upgrades.”
WEFTEC 2014 also offers 31 workshops that provide attendees the opportunity to learn about a specific topic in an in-depth, hands-on format. Topics for 2014 include carbon removal and recovery, collection systems basics, food and beverage industry reuse, green infrastructure, upstream oil and gas water reuse and water quality trading. Continuing education credits are available. In the exhibit hall, 290,000 ft2 of space has been booked by more than 700 exhibiting companies for WEFTEC 2014.A
