On September 8, SPX Cooling Technologies Inc. presented a check for $26,000 to support pediatric cancer care at Children’s Mercy Hospital, the Kansas City region’s leading medical center. The funds were raised during “Tee Off For Cancer,” the first annual charity golf tournament hosted by SPX Cooling Technologies, Overland Park, Kan. The level of money raised at the tournament gives SPX the opportunity to name a room at the Kansas City Children’s Mercy Hospital.

SPX volunteers and 128 golfers gathered at Ironhorse Golf Course, Leawood, Kan., for the 18-hole tournament. The 32 teams of suppliers, sales representatives, customers, partners, SPX employees and friends competing on the golf course also tested their skills with competitions for longest drive, longest putt, closest to the pin and other contests.

Organizing and executing the successful charity golf tournament was a new challenge for the SPX community involvement team, which reached out to the SPX community of suppliers, sales representatives, customers, partners, employees and friends for support. Major sponsors of the tournament included Metals USA, WEG Electric, Moore Fans, NEC, Infinity Fasteners and Amquip Crane Rental.
