An air-cooled condenser at a geothermal power plant in Turkey's Aydin province has come online and is operating successfully. A consortium led by Atlas Copco Gas and Process division, in partnership with technology provider Exergy and air-cooled condenser specialist Spig, received the contract in 2011 for a geothermal project using organic rankine cycle (ORC) technology.

The project was constructed in the geothermal field at Pamukören, Turkey, a growth region for geothermal energy. After commissioning, the plant is performing according to project requirements, say the companies. The customer, Çelikler Jeothermal, has awarded the consortium another order to supply an additional 80 MW geothermal power plant.

In other company news, the Spig Group has established Spig Korea Ltd., a branch in Seoul, South Korea, that will serve as a hub in the country. Spig Korea will provide design, supply and installation of industrial cooling systems.
