ThermoTEC thermoelectric air conditioners are intended for Class I, Division 2 hazardous locations. All three models (400, 800 and 1,500 BTU) are rated NEMA 4X for mounting to electronic enclosures or in transit cases and can be used indoors and outdoors. The air conditioners may be used in washdown applications and environments such as petroleum refineries, offshore drilling rigs, gasoline storage and dispensing areas, and utility gas plants.

This upgraded NEMA rating provides a higher level of protection against corrosion and water ingress, including water coming from ice formation on the enclosure exterior. The thermoelectric cooling units, which are available in either 120V AC or 240V AC modes and operate in temperatures up to 140°F (60°C), may be mounted either vertically or horizontally.
