Cooling tower toads provide a vapor corrosion inhibitor (VCI) protective layer that films all the metal components, thereby not allowing oxygen and water to create corrosion cells on the surface of the metal. The protective layer also coats recessed and inaccessible areas such as the vapor spaces of piping. With the ability of the corrosion inhibitor to replenish coatings that are disturbed or depleted, the protection lasts for an entire layup season.
