Large process equipment users can employ microchannel coils as condensers for air-cooled equipment. The coils deliver better efficiency than traditional fin/tube coils, says the manufacturer. Standard coils range from 5 to 40 tons and can be used in multiple combinations up to 300 tons in R410a and R134a applications. The systems have up to a 30 percent smaller coil face, says the manufacturer, depending upon the design conditions. Alcoil_IN

Sizes range as tall as 80” and as wide as 120”, and the heat exchangers are thin, light weight and take up less space that comparable non-microchannel coils. Lower compressor head pressures are possible to 115°F condensing temperatures with 95°F air temperatures.
