Power Plant Taps Spig for Air-Cooled Condensers
The Iberdrola Engineering and Construction group company plans to use the condensers for a $1 billion new high-efficiency 674 MW combined-cycle gas turbine (CCGT) electric generating plant in Salem, Mass. This fast response capability CCPP is replacing an existing 64-year-old coal-fired plant and will be generating twice the power on one-third the property as its predecessor.
Spig's scope of supply covers the design and manufacturing of 36 cell air-cooled condensers (18 cells each), equipped with single-row tube bundles technology. The project is planned for operation in 2017.
