A modular tower model often used in industrial cooling was installed at Punta Cana International Airport in the Dominican Republic.

The high density polyethylene (HDPE) TM Series cooling tower manufactured by Delta Cooling Towers Inc. includes three modular cells and provides 750 cooling tons. It was selected by Inica, the mechanical contractor that installed the HVAC system at the airport. The choice of tower was important due to the country’s year-round high ambient temperatures. It also had to be effective when handling the stiff gusts of corrosive salt air that blows in off the water.

Inica is confident the tower will be impervious to rust and corrosion problems because of its double-wall HDPE shell. The design was also chosen because of its direct drive motor, which should lower energy consumption and make maintenance easier.
