An alliance to prevent Legionnaire’s disease  launched a website aimed at providing the public with information about Legionella bacteria, potential sources and how individuals become infected with Legionnaires’ disease.

PreventLegionnaires.org was peer reviewed and was linked to by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). The launch coincides with the release of a CDC report that confirmed that “the most common source of building-associated Legionnaires’ disease outbreaks was drinkable water (56 percent).”

The website provides information about typical symptoms, points of exposure, risk factors that make people more susceptible to the disease, ways to prevent the bacteria from spreading. It also includes various FAQ pages, fact sheets, case studies and risk-management tools.
