RETA Conference a Good Bet for Industrial Refrigeration Training
Industrial refrigeration education is front and center at the annual meeting of the Refrigerating Engineers & Technicians Association. Show visitors who attend the conference program and refrigeration review course can earn up to 28 PDHs while those attending just the conference program can earn up to 15 PDH. Professional development hours earned at the RETA conference can be applied toward CIRO, CARO, CRES and RAI certification maintenance.
The conference program is organized into four tracks: compliance, management, operators and engineering. Hands-on and exhibitor presentations called “hot point sessions” round out the conference, which will be held October 4-7 at the Rio Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas.
Targeted Sessions. Compliance track topics include enforcement actions and updates through OSHA and EPA, common deficiencies of the CALARP/RMP/PMS program and hydrostatic releases. Management track sessions focus on understanding RAGAGEP and meeting industry regulatory standards as required by the FDA, EPA and OSHA. Operator track presentations include shaft-alignment practices for compressors and other rotating equipment, low cost refrigeration energy-efficiency improvements and oil analysis. The engineering track includes presentations on double-suction risers and variable-frequency drives, comparing low ammonia charge refrigeration systems, and ammonia charge minimization.
Hands-On Sessions. Five sessions — focusing on liquid line break, pressure-relief valves, oil draining, dump systems and water testing your ammonia — each are offered four times to allow all interested attendees to enjoy these hands-on sessions. Learn by doing at these special presentations.
Exhibits. More than 120 manufacturers and suppliers will have booths in the exhibit hall. See, touch, feel and learn about innovative new technologies and identify new suppliers and partners for your industrial refrigeration operation. Attendees also can meet vendors at the hot point presentations, a complimentary business lunch and the awards banquet.
Also, immediately preceding the conference, RETA will host two separate, two-day courses that can help attendees prep for specific RETA certification exams (CIRO, CARO or CRES).
Again in 2016, RETA has developed an app for its conference that allows conference attendees to find exactly what they need when they need it. Interactive tools provide real-time updates and information on scheduling, locations and social connections.
