Solutions Available for Capacity Control in Reciprocating Compressors
To achieve capacity control in reciprocating compressors, Bitzer offers refrigeration engineers two solutions: speed control provided by CRII mechanical capacity control or Varispeed with integrated frequency inverter. Both solutions from Bitzer provide increased energy efficiency and reduce lifecycle costs.
With fewer control deviations and a larger range of control, CRII mechanical capacity control achieves somewhat lower efficiency levels in the lower part-load range than Varispeed. The modulation range for two-, four- and six-cylinder compressors is between 10 and 100 percent. With CRII, electromagnetic compatibility is not an issue and the mechanical solution has no influence on network quality in buildings.
Designed for small and medium-sized reciprocating compressors, Varispeed can be operated at a frequency of up to 87 Hz. The suction gas-cooled frequency inverter and the compressor form a compact unit. All the components are factory mounted.
