Refrigeration Plant Suffers No Cooling Loss in Nearly 40 Years
In 1979, Star Refrigeration delivered an industrial cooling system to Associated Seafoods. Almost 40 years later, the plant – the oldest operational plant in Star’s history – is still running 24/7 with no cooling loss.
Star provided two refrigeration packages for the company’s cold storage and production facilities on the Moray Firth coast of Scotland nearly four decades ago. Each package consists of a single compressor, LPR, four way valve with patented reverse cycle defrost technology, an evaporator and twin circuit condenser. According to Associated Seafoods, the system still hits -25°C in the cold store and has been running non-stop for 324,342 hours.
