According to a report in The Guardian, the Canadian government is offering a $500,000 repayable contribution to the Souris Harbour Authority. The money will be used for the purchase of equipment and expansion of current cold storage facilities.

The project will increase total capacity by 4 million pounds, bringing the authority’s total capacity to between 12 and 13 million pounds. The expansion is in response to fruit and seafood processors seeking increased affordable cold storage space.
