Food retailer Weis Markets opened the 210,000 ft² expansion of its distribution center in Milton, Pa., bringing the size of the site to 1.3 million ft².

The expansion provides additional dairy, deli and cold storage for frozen foods and further streamlines the growing company's supply chain. The project includes the usage of an ammonia refrigeration system, which will permit Weis to reduce the use of refrigerant moving forward. Next year the company plans to expand the distribution center’s produce storage area.
