Chemours Co. received the Cold Chain Project Award at the 2017 RAC Cooling Industry Awards for its support of Dawsonrentals’ transition of its refrigeration system to Opteon XL40 (R-454A), a low global warming potential (GWP) refrigerant solution. According to Chemours, the award is granted to a project that help advance the progress of the cold chain and helped the environment.

Dawsonrentals introduced mobile cold stores in Europe and now offers more than 2,500 mobile cold rooms, industrial freezers, blast chillers and tempering units for rent. Their customer, Park Cake Bakery, opened a custom-built temperature controlled storage facility in September 2017 that will be cooled with Opteon XL40 refrigerant.  According to Park Cake Bakery, using Opteon XL40 makes a significant contribution to reducing its environmental impact.

An A2L HFO-based refrigerant, Opteon XL40 provides a 94 percent reduction in GWP over R-404A.
