Veolia will supply raw water and demineralized water treatment systems for Hickory Run Energy’s natural gas combined-cycle power station in Lawrence County, Pa.
The 5,000-gal/min raw water treatment system will incorporate Veolia’s proprietary Actiflo high-rate clarification, Hydrotech Discfilter and AnoxKaldnes moving bed biofilm reactor (MBBR) technologies. The feedwater to the plant will be effluent from the local, public-owned treatment works (POTW) and will be used as plant cooling water and boiler feedwater after demineralization.
The 1,000 MW facility is currently in the construction phase with a commercial operation date of April 2020. When completed, Hickory Run will provide power to the PJM Electric Market.
