Joint Venture to Bring Low Charge Ammonia Refrigeration to North America
A new joint venture, Controlled Azane Refrigeration Inc., is “dedicated to being the leading provider of low charge ammonia refrigeration systems in North America.” Star Refrigeration Ltd. and Controlled Environments Construction (CEC) formed the new operation.
Glasgow, Scotland-based Star founded Azane Inc., which provides low charge ammonia chillers and freezers in the United States. The company is teaming up with CEC to focus on applications in the freezer and temperature convertible North American markets. Rick Loesel, a refrigerated and frozen food industry veteran, will serve as president and chief operating officer.
CEC says it will leverage its 25 years of experience in the cold storage construction industry and the past four years dealing specifically with low charge ammonia refrigeration. This includes the development and implementation of a large low charge ammonia system in a cold storage warehouse in the United States.
