Advanced Cooling Technologies (ACT) received a production contract for heat sinks supporting L3 Technologies data-link products. L3’s data-link technology will be integrated into the U.S. Army’s Apache Manned/Unmanned Teaming – eXpanded Capabilities (MUMT-X) helicopter program. MUMT-X provides the Apache AH-64E with upgraded warfighting capability, according to L3. The heat sinks will keep critical components operational during periods of harsh environments such as altitude, temperature and dust/fog.

ACT has been working with L3 to develop an embedded heat pipe design (HiK plate) conducive to high thermal performance, structural strength and cost-effective manufacturing. The contract is worth approximately $1 million and is scheduled to run through 2019.

The system provided by L3 will enable communications and data teaming between manned and unmanned aircraft.
