Shortly after construction of its 205,000 ft2 cold storage facility in Sioux Falls, S.D., was complete, Win Chill Cold Storage realized that it would need more capacity. So, the company began planning with an industrial design-build firm for a phase two expansion.
Tippmann Innovation, which worked on the original facility, recently broke ground on phase two. The second phase will include a 126,000 ft2 freezer addition with nine loading docks and 18,900 pallet positions. It is schedule to be completed in December of this year.
According to Win Chill, the rapid growth of the region’s food processing market is causing a backlog of demand for warehouse space from both local and regional food processors.
