Netherlands-based NewCold opened a 180,000 ft2 cold storage facility in Burley, Idaho. The company’s second facility in the United States is utilizing advanced conveyance and stacking technology to load and store frozen food pallets.

The $90 million plant, which took 25,000 tons of steel to construct and stands over 14 stories tall, will employ approximately 100 workers. It will store foods at -5F, with oxygen levels lowered to 16.5 percent for fire prevention.

NewCold currently has facilities in Tacoma, Wash., Australia, France, Germany, Poland and the United Kingdom.
