Cold Storage Facility Opens in Idaho

Netherlands-based NewCold opened a 180,000 ft² cold storage facility in Burley, Idaho. The company’s second facility in the United States is utilizing advanced conveyance and stacking technology to load and store frozen food pallets.

The $90 million plant, which took 25,000 tons of steel to construct and stands over 14 stories tall, will employ approximately 100 workers. It will store foods at -5F, with oxygen levels lowered to 16.5 percent for fire prevention.

NewCold currently has facilities in Tacoma, Wash., Australia, France, Germany, Poland and the United Kingdom.
