Petrochemical Plant Upgrades Cooling Towers
Total Olefins Antwerp upgraded its cooling equipment, replacing 12 existing cooling tower cells with six new units. Babcock & Wilcox subsidiary Spig S.p.A. handled the cooling tower upgrade project at the Antwerp, Belgium, production facility. It was undertaken to improve the plant’s performance, Spig says. The project was completed on schedule without disrupting the plant’s production capacity.
Spig supplies mechanical and natural-draft cooling systems. Its equipment can meet project specifications such as high seismic loads, vibration control, corrosion, noise control, subfreezing operation and seawater use.
