Medium-Voltage Variable-Frequency Drive
Model M2L minimizes downtime in case of a failed power cell. The modular design of the inverter allows the operator to follow a few steps to replace a failed power cell with a spare power cell and have it back up and running quickly. The power cell-based technology utilizes self-healing capacitors to eliminate any need for reforming of spare power cells. The drive consists of three independent components: a standard multi-pulse phase-shifting transformer; a standard multi-pulse diode-based rectifier; and a modular-power cell-based multi-level inverter. The M2L spans a power range from 300 to 12,000 hp, operating at industry-standard medium voltages up to 7.2 kV. The drive can accept up to a 35 kV input.
