United States Cold Storage (USCS) named Larry Alderfer as the company’s new president and chief executive officer (CEO). He succeeds David Harlan, who retired Dec. 31, 2019, after a 40-year career with the company.

Alderfer joined USCS in 1998 as general manager for the company’s Union City, Calif., warehouse. During his 21-year tenure with USCS, Alderfer has advanced through roles involving corporate transportation and logistics; regional operations management; corporate and business development; and, most recently, as chief operating officer. During that time, he helped guide USCS’s growth and development from just more than 100 million ft3 of storage to more than 371 million ft3 of temperature-controlled space.
