An electro-hydraulic actuator has been installed at an energy generation company’s hydro-electric plant in a Spanish mountain range. A Rotork Skilmatic actuator is being used to operate a critical butterfly valve installed on a pipeline feeding the power plant’s turbine at the Repsol site, which is located in the Picos de Europa mountains.
The actuator has been installed on the Naranjo de Bulnes peak, which reaches a summit of 2,518 m above sea level. Rotork’s SI actuators carry out analog control for both quarter-turn and linear valves and dampers. They combine electrical operation with hydraulic precision and the reliability of spring-return or accumulator fail-safe action.
