Ball Valves Installed on Freezer Suction Lines

Stainless steel motorized controlled ball valves and stainless steel isolation ball valves have been installed on a -30°F (-34°C) spiral freezer’s suction lines. The ammonia project utilized stainless steel piping and stainless steel ball valves manufactured by Hantemp Controls, Westmont, Ill., for corrosion protection, added strength and to reduce the over installation weight.

The ball valves include full ball profiles to minimize pressure drop, and the motorized ball valves have controlled opening and closing to prevent shock to the system during defrost cycles. The motorized suction valves do not require a hot gas pilot line for opening and closing.
