An ammonia screw compressor package provided a dairy processing plant in India a 20 percent reduction in total cost of ownership, a 15 to 20 percent increase in energy efficiency, and a 50 percent reduction in maintenance, according to the company.
As part of a greenfield project, Fortune Dairy built a new dairy processing plant near Pune. For the compressor package for the refrigeration system, Fortune Dairy selected the Grasso M series ammonia screw compressor package, manufactured by GEA. The compressor, which has an integrated pressure-activated check valve to ensure low pressure drop, runs at 4,500 rpm in full load. Due to its design, the compressor requires a minimum of floor space.
Also included in the installation was the GEA Omni control panel, which incorporates a high definition, multi-touch interface. All required system components can be managed from the control panel, resulting in a demand-driven and energy-efficient facility operation, according to GEA.
